Job Description

Job Summary

Novolex is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Inventory Accountant to join the  Corporate Accounting team. Reporting directly to the Inventory Accounting Manager, this role is responsible for executing day-to-day inventory valuations, reconciling ledger accounts, and tracking plant-level data.

As a primary support resource, you will work closely with plant personnel to help implement standardized corporate workflows, resolve inventory variances, and maintain strong operational Internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process & Control Maintenance: Execute daily, weekly, and monthly accounting procedures to ensure accuracy and reporting consistency; identify process bottlenecks at the plant level and assist the Manager in reinforcing standard operating procedures.
  • Cycle Count Verification: Monitor plant-level cycle counting workflows, verifying that counts are performed consistently, documentation is complete, and inventory adjustments follow corporate approval protocols.
  • Ledger Reconciliation: Perform reconciliations of inventory sub-ledgers to the general ledger across assigned manufacturing plants and distribution centers, investigating reconciling items immediately.
  • Physical Count Support: Assist the Manager in coordinating Q4 physical inventory counts, including reviewing site-level cut-off procedures (shipping/receiving logs) to guarantee accurate financial year-end positioning.
  • SLOB/Excess and Obsolete Reporting: Track, analyze, and compile monthly data feeds for slow-moving and obsolete (SLOB/E&O) inventory analysis, maintaining standard schedules used for corporate reserve calculations.
  • Audit Preparation: Assemble and organize roll-forwards, sampling documents, and routine transaction histories to directly support internal and external audit inquiries.
  • System Operations: Execute high-volume transaction tracking, and data management within SAP and various other ERP systems.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2–4 years of accounting experience, with foundational familiarity working within a Manufacturing environment that prioritizes accurate internal workflows and system checks.
  • Control Awareness: Comfort with standard accounting guardrails, risk awareness, and proper documentation practices.
  • Technical Skills: Strong capabilities in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, data sorting, and logical formulas) to handle high volumes of transaction data.
  • Systems Familiarity: Prior experience or foundational knowledge working within an ERP system like SAP or specialized accounting software is highly preferred.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently communicate procedural requirements and data discrepancies to both corporate leaders and plant floor staff.

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $66,800-$89,100 + bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

The benefits for this role include 401(k) plan with company match, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending and health savings accounts, paid vacation, and sick days, paid parental leave, paid holidays and wellness program.
