Job Description

Job Overview:

 

The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant operations, including production, quality, maintenance, and safety. The Plant Manager will ensure the efficient and effective utilization of resources, drive operational excellence, and achieve production goals.

 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee all plant operations to ensure effective production processes and meet production targets.
  2. Develop and implement operational strategies, plans, and policies to optimize production efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality.
  3. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve performance goals.
  4. Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of operations manager, maintenance manager supervisors, operators, and support staff.
  5. Establish clear performance expectations, provide feedback and recognition, and address performance issues promptly.
  6. Foster a positive work culture that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  7. Collaborate with demand planning and supply chain teams to develop production plans and schedules that meet customer requirements and optimize resource utilization.
  8. Monitor production progress, identify bottlenecks, and take proactive measures to ensure on-time delivery of products.
  9. Implement and maintain robust quality systems to ensure adherence to product specifications and customer requirements.
  10. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Six Sigma methodologies, to optimize processes, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
  11. Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop preventive maintenance plans and ensure optimal equipment performance.
  12. Ensure equipment reliability, identify maintenance needs, and coordinate repairs and upgrades to minimize downtime and production disruptions.
  13. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  14. Maintain company safety programs, training, and procedures to create a safe work environment for all employees.
  15. Oversee regular safety audits, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions to prevent accidents and injuries.
  16. Prepare and manage plant budgets, monitor expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  17. Collaborate with finance and procurement teams to optimize inventory levels, control costs, and improve overall financial performance.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
  2. Experience as a Plant Manager or in a similar leadership role within manufacturing or similar industrial environment.
  3. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality systems.
  4. Demonstrated success in driving operational performance, implementing process improvements, and achieving production targets.
  5. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop employees.
  6. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on data-driven solutions.
  7. Proven track record of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing setting.
  8. Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  10. Proficiency in using manufacturing software and systems for production planning, scheduling, and reporting.
  11. Proficiency in using Microsoft Suite.

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $160-185K + bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
