Job Description

Position Summary:

The Pricing Analyst supports the execution of pricing programs, profitability analysis, and reporting initiatives for the Distribution Business Unit. This role assists in evaluating customer and product pricing performance, developing pricing recommendations, maintaining reporting tools, and supporting commercial decision-making.

Working closely with Sales, Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Pricing leadership, the Pricing Analyst will leverage data and analytics to identify pricing opportunities, support margin improvement initiatives, and provide actionable insights that contribute to profitable growth. This position offers a strong foundation for developing expertise in pricing strategy, commercial analytics, and business performance management.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Pricing Support & Analysis

  • Support the execution of pricing strategies, programs, and initiatives across the Distribution business.
  • Analyze pricing data to identify trends, pricing inconsistencies, and opportunities for margin improvement.
  • Assist with customer pricing requests, special pricing approvals, and discount analyses.
  • Monitor pricing compliance and help ensure pricing policies and processes are followed.
  • Support pricing reviews by preparing data, reports, and recommendations for management review.

Reporting & Data Management

  • Maintain recurring pricing, sales, and profitability reports.
  • Update dashboards and scorecards that provide visibility into pricing performance and key business metrics.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across pricing reports and analytical tools.
  • Assist with data extraction, validation, and management activities from ERP and business intelligence systems.

Profitability Analysis

  • Support customer, product, and category profitability analyses.
  • Assist in evaluating revenue, margin, and cost trends across the business.
  • Provide analytical support for pricing actions, customer negotiations, and business development opportunities.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve profitability through pricing and commercial actions.

Commercial & Sales Support

  • Partner with Sales teams to provide pricing analysis and customer-level insights.
  • Assist with bid responses, contract renewals, and customer pricing reviews.
  • Support the evaluation of new business opportunities through pricing and profitability analysis.
  • Prepare reports and materials that support customer and commercial discussions.

Market Intelligence

  • Monitor market trends, competitive pricing activity, and key cost drivers affecting the business.
  • Assist in tracking changes in raw material, freight, and other cost inputs that may influence pricing decisions.
  • Gather information to support pricing recommendations and business planning activities.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency and analytical processes.
  • Assist with maintaining pricing databases, models, and business tools.
  • Support ongoing efforts to automate and standardize pricing-related processes and reporting.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to support business objectives.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to team members and stakeholders.
  • Participate in business reviews and provide analytical support as needed.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business, Statistics, Accounting, Data Analytics, or a related field required.
  • 0-3 years of experience in pricing, finance, business analytics, sales operations, or a related analytical role preferred.
  • Internship or co-op experience in analytics, finance, sales operations, or business intelligence is a plus.
  • Experience in manufacturing, packaging, distribution, or foodservice industries is helpful but not required.

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools preferred.
  • Basic understanding of ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or NetSuite preferred.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving capabilities.

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000-$95,000 + bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
