Job Description

Position Overview: Novolex is seeking a results-driven Production Unit Manager to oversee assigned department(s). The Production Unit Manager is responsible for leading a large team, ensuring safety and quality standards, and achieving production and cost efficiency goals. This role is ideal for a strong leader with a passion for continuous improvement and a deep understanding of manufacturing operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to assigned departments or production lines to meet daily, weekly, and long-term production goals.
  • Oversee and manage a workforce of 150+ employees, including both salaried and hourly staff.
  • Plan, schedule, track, and monitor production and operational costs to ensure unit performance aligns with established objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, lead safety programs, resolve safety-related issues, and conduct thorough incident investigations.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and retain talent; coach team members and administer corrective actions when necessary to maintain a productive workforce.
  • Implement and enforce best practices and company policies to maintain operational consistency.
  • Compile and maintain timely and accurate reports on key production metrics such as efficiency, downtime, scrap, labor, and cost.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to provide clear updates and feedback.
  • Lead and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement projects. Drive employee engagement through team building and leadership development activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and team-building skills.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ manufacturing experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.

Skills:

  • Proven knowledge of statistical methods, process analysis, and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.
