Category Manager – Distribution
Reporting to the Sr. Manager – Commercial Excellence, this role is responsible for driving the performance and execution of assigned product categories within the Distribution business unit. This role will own a defined portfolio and play a critical role in developing and executing category strategies that drive profitable growth across key product lines and channels.
Key Responsibilities
· Own the strategy, performance, and roadmap for existing products within assigned product categories
· Monitor key KPIs (revenue, margin, service, etc.) for assigned categories and proactively address performance gaps
· Analyze market trends, consumer insights, and competitive data to identify growth opportunities
· Identify & support product training across the organization
· Assist in the development of customer-facing materials in partnership with Sales, Marketing & Communications
· Act as the key point of contact for category insights & inquiries to support Sales, Marketing, and Product teams
· Serve as the strategic liaison across sales, marketing, product development, supply chain and operations to ensure category performance is aligned with overall business goals
· Collaborate with cross-functional partners to guide product lifecycle decisions and innovation roadmaps
Critical Skills & Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance or related field; MBA or advanced degree a plus
· 5+ years of experience in category management, sales, finance or other related disciplines
· Experience in CPG, retail, or packaging industries strongly preferred
· Strong analytical skills and business acumen; ability to translate data into strategy
· Proficiency with syndicated data tools (e.g., Nielsen, Circana/IRI) and financial modeling a plus
· Highly organized and results-driven, with a strong sense of ownership
· Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills
A reasonable estimate of the current range is $90,000 - $130,000 + bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
