Responsibilities

Forklift Operator 

Meriden, CT

 

 

Compensation Includes:

  • Starting Pay Rate of $18.00/hour

Available Shift

  • 2:00pm - 10:30pm, Monday - Friday

Responsibilities

  • Operate all warehouse equipment required to transfer finished goods and other products to the appropriate areas, including forklift and clamp truck
  • Load and unload trucks efficiently in accordance with department standards
  • Stock all goods in a safe and stable manner
  • Communicate pertinent information to relief at shift change
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain work area in an organized, safe, and clean manner; knowledge of 6S is a plus
  • Know locations of and how to operate emergency stop buttons and fire extinguishers
  • Complete forklift checklist
  • Monitor and record all products returned or received
  • Check accuracy of finished product count on pallets, verify product ID, ensure pallets have only one Port Ticket when removed from lines, and accurately complete all required paperwork
  • Fill forklift propane tank at end of shift
  • Perform accurate cycle counts as designated by Team Leaders
  • Effectively organize and stage materials to support inventory accuracy
  • Knowledge of LOTO procedures is a plus

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year recent forklift experience preferred
  • Minimum of one year sit-down forklift experience required
  • Clamp attachment operation experience is a plus
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing (English required)
  • Must be self-directed and able to work with little supervision
  • Must be certified in Lockout/Tagout and Forklift Operation upon assignment

Skills & Competencies

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to do simple math equations (add, subtract, multiply, divide, percentages) and use a calculator
  • Mechanical Skills: Basic knowledge of machinery or processes; may be required to stop machines, shut off glue lines, or clear jammed clamshells
  • Communication Skills: Must be able to read, write, and understand basic English and/or Spanish; able to communicate effectively and professionally under pressure
  • Computer Skills: Ability to learn and use internal programs such as Insight, Maintenance Connection, etc.

Education Requirements

  • Grade 10 or equivalent education; up to one year of related training or experience
  • Must obtain a Pactiv Lift Truck License
  • Must obtain a valid State Drivers License

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other relevant standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
