Compensation

  • Competitive starting pay range of $25.05-$35.71 per hour, paid weekly

Position Overview

Conduct all mechanical changeovers, including line set-ups, mold and trim tool changes, guide bar replacement, pick adjustments, and control system adjustments. Also, troubleshoot all machine malfunctions and make appropriate adjustments to related equipment to ensure a quality product is produced at published throughput rates. Assist with weekly, monthly, and quarterly PMs. (PMs consist of rebuilds of components on trim press, formers, printers, grinders, tooling, and automation equipment, etc.). This position requires flexibility to work overtime, be on call, and to adjust hours/shifts/teams as necessary.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


• Responsible for making effective changeovers (major and minor)
• Assembles, cleans, repairs as needed, and reassembles tooling in accordance with prescribed tooling maintenance requirements, as well as when needed due to component failure
• Perform all mold changes, including the disconnection, removal, and relocation of molds and the installation, reconnection, and setup of molds through to production function
• Manages storage and organization of tooling to ensure readiness
• Support changeover time reduction efforts
• Maintains tool cleaning systems to include cleaning the tank (changing filters, changing solution, and cleaning the tank itself)
• Support and perform mold PM schedules, as assigned
• Periodically clean and inspect molds
• Assist in documentation and record the history of the specific molds
• Skilled in using precision measurement and setup devices
• Identify modifications or upgrades to address downtime issues
• Assists in some daily routine, such as mold cleaning and set-up in the shop
• Assists or performs mold changes when needed.
• Trains and oversees associates to ensure changeovers and machine set-up integrity is maintained
• Self-directed with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Results-focused with a strong desire to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
• Ensures work areas are clean and organized in line with safety and work efficiency objectives
• Specification and procurement of spare parts
• Assist in process technician responsibilities as assigned
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications


• Skilled Machinist experience in a high precision machine shop/manufacturing environment preferred
• Computer literacy in Desktop Applications to include data collection and manipulation
• Ability to execute close tolerance fabrication, component assembly, and machine set-up
• Skilled in using precision measurement and setup devices
• Competent in working with computerized machine controls and interfaces.
• Highly organized, problem solver, able to handle multiple tasks, self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability.
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with people at all levels within the organization.
• Able to act and show best work practice, understand work design, and respond to issues without specific instructions
• Self-directed with ability to work with minimal supervision
• Results-focused with a strong desire to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
• Assist in process technician responsibilities as assigned
• Must be a Team player
• Hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and/or general maintenance knowledge preferred
• Injection molding and/or plastics industry experience preferred
• Experience operating cranes, forklifts, and handling heavy molds preferred

 

Education and/or Experience Requirements (Qualifications)

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required

 

Physical Requirements/ Environmental/ Working Conditions

  • Must be able to constantly stand, walk, use hands, and arms
  • Must be able to occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Frequently required lifting and/or moving up to 70 pounds
  • Frequently required pushing or pulling items using force up to 95 pounds.
  • Must be able to frequently climb 10-40 steps and occasionally climb 5-10 ladder rungs.
  • Able to work in differing temperatures.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts and overtime as required.
